January 2025

Dear Parents,
Firstly, a very big, warm welcome to all of our new families who are starting with us this January, along with a huge welcome BACK to all of our old friendly faces! We have been looking forward to welcoming everyone, fresh and full of energy, to start
the new year.
Over the first half of the Spring term, we will be celebrating Chinese New Year 27th- 31st January which is the Year of the Snake. The children will be learning all about their own birth animals, Chinese food, traditions, and the different phases of the moon. Then we go into National storytelling week 3rd – 7th February which we will encourage the children to make their own stories, and bring along their own
favourite story. Just before the half term we are having a week of Love 10th – 14th , lots of discussions about people, animals and things we all love. After half term we have a busy few weeks with World book day on the 6th March, science week 10th -14th March and also Mothers week 24th – 28th March where we invite all the mummies to come and spend some time with us at Nursery and of course we can’t forget Easter. If any parent thinks they have something they can add to any of our weeks like reading a story on Storytelling week, cooking food for Chinese New year or have a favourite science experiment, we would love to hear from you. Alongside these topics we will of course be also following the children’s lead which could go from Dinos to cars to animals......we shall wait and see.
Please remember we have our whiteboard at the front which keeps parents updated on the day’s activities, alongside tapestry. We love to see your ‘likes’ and comments’ on our posts and you are very welcome to add your very own posts. Aswell as tapestry we do have a Facebook and Instagram page with ideas and updates.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents that, whilst we do provide aprons for messy play and a spare clothes box, please remember to send your children to nursery in comfortable, appropriate clothes. There are allocated “welly shelves” on the decking if you wish to leave a pair at nursery alongside a named waterproof. Please also pack your child with a healthy snack for both morning and
afternoon, separately labelled to lunches, which gets transferred into their trays in the morning, along with a labelled drinks bottle. Please remember there are no nuts to be brought into Nursery.
Please could I advise parents of the yellow ‘keep clear’ zig zags at the front of the nursery. Although there are no actual parking restrictions down the rest of Hayley Green, to help us keep our neighbours happy, please could we ask parents to park down Hayley Green lane next to the field, as opposed to outside the houses.
Key Worker – your child’s key worker will be set up on Tapestry where you will see some information about each key worker.. Key workers are responsible for tracking your child’s development throughout their time at Paws, although as we are such a small team, the staff do all work together and use their joint knowledge of the children to help with tracking. Throughout the year your child’s key worker may
change if for instance they build a particular bond with one teacher.
